Meet Jim Holman

Candidate for Oklahoma City Council - Ward 6

Selling cars wasn’t primary, but
providing transportation to folks
with credit issues was.

We helped them get to work,
kids to school…wherever
they needed to go.

It was pretty cool to make a
difference in their lives.

 

Jim Holman is a 4th generation Oklahoman and Ward 6 resident since 1999. He began selling cars as a summer job while in college at Jim Click Chevrolet in Altus, OK. That led to the decision to make the automobile business a profession. After graduating college with a Bachelor's in Economics, he did just that, made it his career. He retired in 2017 only to began consulting in the very industry which has enabled him to maintain both a high regard and enthusiasm for the profession.

Some of his career highlights are:

  • Graduate of General Motors University (Texas Christian University)
  • Youngest Buick dealer in US at 25 years old
  • Vice President, Operations for Cross Continent Auto Retailers, Inc. (NYSE-XC); 1st IPO (Initial Public Offering) and publicly traded ownership for retail auto dealerships in U.S.
  • Dealer Principle for multiple new car franchises (Pontiac, Buick, Chevrolet, Dodge, Daewoo, Mitsubishi)
  • Founder, owner-operator of The Car Store 2005 which leased over 12,000 vehicles to date
  • Active in many industry associations as a member at large, annual convention speaker and panelist
  • 2015-16 Board Chair for Automotive Resources Network
  • Published author for several industry publications
  • Commissioner for the Oklahoma Used Motor Vehicle & Parts Commission (appointed by Governor Mary Fallin)
  •  NIADA (National Independent Automobile Dealers Assoc) Certified Master Dealer
  • OIADA (Oklahoma Independent Auto Dealers Association) Quality Dealer of the Year recipient

Outside the automobile business, Jim is a veteran from the TXANG, an active member of St Luke’s United Methodist Church where he has served as past Chairman of the Board, chair of the Staff Parrish Relations and Finance Committees as well as a  past member of the Alzheimer’s Association’s (Oklahoma Chapter) Board of Directors & Executive Committee. He is an avid reader and multi-engine instrument-rated pilot.
